Due to spring action characteristic as required in acupuncture needles, nickel is presented in this type of surgical-grade of stainless steel wire. Patients who suffered from nickel reaction may have to be treated with needles made of solid gold or silver. If reaction to nickel is not severe, it may be possible to use nickel acupuncture needles fully coated in silver or gold to seal-off the exposure to nickel.

The Classic Plus All-Silver plated acupuncture needle is made to address the above problem. Also with the silver therapeutic property it can be used to enhance the 'Xie'-reducing acupuncture technique.
