"Originally termed ear acupuncture, the name auricular medicine was adopted upon the discovery of the so-called RAC or Nogier's reflex, containing auricular diagnosis and auricular therapy. It is difficult to say with certainty in which country stimulating the auricle for therapeutic purposes originated. Records exist which show that the Chinese studied the ear and its relation to the rest of the body long before our chronology begins. The ear also seems to be the centre of the meridian system in traditional Chinese medicine."
