A Photo Location Guide

Anatac_medium

With 180 colour photographs and 112 full-colour drawings, this highly practical and comprehensively illustrated photo atlas of acupuncture points offers students and practitioners an indispensable guide to the accurate location of points and provides a clear depiction of the anatomic structures encountered during the needle passage.

A practical full-colour photo atlas of acupuncture points; imposition of channels on human models offers an indispensable aid to accurate location of points for students and practitioners. Anatomical cross-sections provide a vivid illustration of the tissues traversed by needling of commonly used and potentially dangerous points.

Features

Anatomical Atlas of Acupuncture Points has three main parts:
- the first section consists of 68 body photos of human models with the 14 acupuncture channels and 409 acupuncture points clearly indicated; the photos start with the whole body and then move into greater detail down to individual body regions
- the second section consists of 18 colour photos of large cross-sections of the trunk, indicating relevant acupuncture points by channel (the trunk is particularly important in relation to major body structures and organs such as the spine, pleura, etc.)
- the third section consists of 94 colour photos, each accompanied by one or more colour drawings, illustrating cross-sections of body parts in the vicinity of individual commonly used or higher-risk acupuncture points; these photos and drawings illustrate the depth of needle insertion and label the anatomical structures traversed by the needle. They are accompanied by brief notes on location, depth of insertion and clinical indications.
. Illustrations are grouped by body area within each section.
. This is the first book to combine illustrated acupuncture points with full-colour photos indicating the body anatomy in the vicinity of commonly used and potentially dangerous points.
. Photos and diagrams will aid students to locate points and gain confidence in insertion as they will be able to visualize the "real life" body structures involved in the needle passage.
. The book avoids overwhelming students with too many hard-to-remember anatomical terms at a time when they are struggling to grasp the acupuncture point names and functions.
. It is not intended to be a substitute for a basic acupuncture textbook, but to provide a vivid support to the learning process; from the anatomical viewpoint, it will also be useful for clinical practitioners.
