Drawing of 44 years of teaching and studying both acupuncture and human anatomy, the author presents a compilation of 70 full-colour illustrations that depict the layered anatomy of the body and denote the acupuncture points in relation to the skin, muscles, blood vessels and nerves, organs, and skeleton. Additionally, the author describes the points of the 14 channels and reviews each point in terms of its indications point location, patient posturing, and the direction, angle, and depth of insertion for needling. He further lists channel-by-channel precautions in acupuncture treatments and selected points for treatment of 117 Western-named common diseases.

The Atlas is based on meridians and points. It applies the anatomic method to draw in layered fashion, the location of points to show the relationship between the points and organs. The appendixes after the illustrations sum up the standard location of meridians and points, the posture of the patient, the direction, angle and depth of insertion of the needle, indications, the locations of the visera beneath some points to which special attention should be paid, and selected points for common disorders.

This Atlas consists of two parts. The first includes the following: commonly used apparatuses, the posture of the patient, the antomical landmarks on the surface of human body, the courses and commonly used points of the meridians, the methods of locating points, and the methods of inserting the needle. The second part contains layered illustrations of skin, muscles, vessels, nerves and skeletion, organs in each aspect of the head, trunk, upper and lower limbs, and the auricuar surface. It provides a stereoscopic picture of the points, thereby furnishing readers with a complete survey.
