Measurement Points of the Electroacupuncture

Safe and inexpensive diagnosis by skin level measurements dramatically supplement present imaging techniques which give limited information. An instrument that can be expected to do this reliably and effectively (1), is a role that is filled by the Electrodermal measurement. Its acceptance will not come easily and requires adequate research evidence, an objective of this Society.

Electrodermal screening is a testing process in which measurements are taken with a 3 mm. transdermal probe using ohmic resistance. The device, the test procedure and the system of electroacupuncture are integrally related and cannot be separated. They must be understood together both as a science and as an art. Just as the ultrasonographer must learn a specific anatomy, proper use of the instrument probe head, conformity to temperature, lubrication, etc.; so must an electrodermologist or an electrotherapist.

The Electrodermal screening is theoretically based upon bioenergy (chi) and traditional meridians which represent the paths of flow of this energy. The obvious way to prove that such energy exists is by using a device which measures it.
